Wichita Falls Youth Symphony Orchestra

Providing Texoma’s most talented young musicians exceptional performance opportunities since 1992

The Wichita Falls Youth Symphony Orchestra (YSO) founder, Gail Key, believed strongly in providing a quality learning experience that would foster a lifelong appreciation of classical music and the arts. The YSO has grown from one community orchestra to two orchestras, a high-level ensemble, and the Gail Key Academy of Music.  A strong collaboration with the Wichita Falls Symphony Orchestra provides talented coaches, apprentice opportunities, and side-by-side concerts.

  • The Symphonic Orchestra is an advanced, full orchestra serving grades 6 through 12.
  • The Philharmonic Orchestra is a preparatory, all-strings group for 3rd grade and older.
  • The Stringsemble is our ambassador to the community, providing music for a wide variety of area venues and events from retirement communities, farmers markets, and non-profit and corporate events.

The YSO rehearses on Sundays on the campus of Midwestern University in Wichita Falls. Texas. Orchestra concerts occur at the end of the Fall and Spring semesters at Akin Auditorium. Additional chamber music concerts are also scheduled during the academic season.  All concerts are free to the public!
